Why do instruments look the way they do? When did we settle on the design? It is a general idea that instruments can be seen as bodily extensions but in a very singular sense. What happens when more bodies are required to operate an instrument? When each movement of the performers are entangled? I always found the unspoken language between performers playing together to be a special kind of intimacy. Would it be possible to make this intimate relation even more extreme? 

Playing music together seems to me to be closely connected to love. The Monstrous Multiplayer instrument is a fully modular brass instrument system. Each part connects to each-other with plumbing fittings. During the performance, the musicians put together the instruments in different ways. More than one body is required to operate the system.
