Transformed Transverse Flute
Copenhagen 2025
The standardization of the flute in terms of measurements and design can be traced back to the innovations introduced by Theobald Boehm in the early 19th century. Transformed Transverse Flute consists of factory manufactured flutes, modified to connect so that multiple musicians play on the same instrument. This work explores the idea of the instrument as a link between musicians. Here, a kind of bodily symbiosis emerges, where the musicians must coordinate their movements and breathing in order to play together. This piece takes a playful and experimental approach to the symbiotic relationship that arises between bodies and instruments in musical contexts.
